Lifestyle budget categories: every group is a lever

This community member structures categories like a P&L, where each major group is a lever on the direction of your life. Fixed costs like Home, Admin and Transport sit beside discretionary groups such as Fitness, Health and Vices.

  • 14 groups
  • 88 subcategories
  • Comprehensive (80+)
  • Solo / single
  • Couple / household
  • Salaried employee
  • Frequent traveler

In their words

Structured like a P&L would be. Each major Category represents a lever in the direction of your life, the detailed spend within tells the story.
If you invest more dollars in the Health category and fewer dollars in the Vices category, you can expect an uptrend in Health.

There are Fixed or Non-Discretionary cost buckets like Home, Admin, Transport.
The rest are more Discretionary lifestyle choices.... do you spend more on Restaurants in the Food bucket, or do you buy bulk groceries to save and instead put dollars into Travel & Entertainment bucket?
