Community Newsletter #5

We're hiring! Plus, another giveaway and community meetup!

Happy Halloween! Hope everyone is staying warm as the temperatures start to dip.

This month, we’re doing things a little differently (again). In lieu of a spotlight, we have several exciting updates to share. Plus, we got such a huge response from last month’s giveaway that we’re doing another one this month! Read on to find out what we’re giving away to 2 lucky members of the Lunch Money community!

Results of Last Month’s Giveaway 🥁

In last month’s Developer Spotlight, we featured Ryan Kulp, the creator of TRMNL, an open source e-ink screen that can be configured to show your Lunch Money data. Ryan offered to give away two devices to readers, and the response was fantastic with over 250 users showing interest!

🎉 Congratulations to the winners: Justin W and Dylan P! Here’s what they had to say when we delivered the news:

“Can’t wait to try using TRMNL to display my Lunch Money info at a glance! And with the developer API, many other creative integrations are possible. Shout out for combining two great products!” - Justin W.

“I’m intending to use it as a living space display of our monthly budget if support exists for that to make it easier to see how our spending looks without logging into lunch money on my desktop.” - Dylan P.

Didn’t win and want to get your hands on a TRMNL device? Ryan tells us they are fully stocked and offering same-day shipping from their website!

We are hiring! 👩🏻‍💻

This is a Pretty Big Deal: We are hiring for our first dedicated full-stack software engineer at Lunch Money! You will be working very closely with Jen, the founder & sole developer, by improving overall infrastructure as we scale, shipping new features and improvements, and helping build out processes for the future.

Behind Lunch Money is a small and nimble team! This will be a flexible, remote-only role in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Lunch Money x FinCon

We recently attended and sponsored our first conference in Atlanta, Georgia! We met a lot of inspiring personal finance content creators and professionals, including coaches, planners and accountants, who were all really excited about what we’re doing at Lunch Money. Read Jen’s recap of the event on LinkedIn here.

Something fun we had at our booth was a jigsaw puzzle– lots of folks came by over the days to “piece together their financial future”!

Want your very own 500-piece Lunch Money puzzle? We’re giving away 2 for free! Sign up below to enter the giveaway:

Next Community Meetup: Vancouver

We hosted our first ever community social hour in Toronto over the summer and loved meeting Lunch Money users and enthusiasts in person! We are considering hosting our second one with Jen in Vancouver sometime during the week of the 8th of December! If you’re in the area and interested in attending, or you want to attend a future meet-up in your city, please fill out this form!

Do you have a Community Story?

We’d love to feature more members of our community in this newsletter. Have you developed an app, plug-in or tool that you want to share? Please reach out to jp@lunchmoney.app!

Even if you aren’t a developer, if you have ideas on how we can make it easier for users to take advantage of contributions from the developer community, I’d love to hear from you.
